In this class, you will receive general information and resources regarding choking risk awareness and prevention. This course meets the Arizona ADH requirements for Choking and Aspiration.

Following this training, participants will have an understanding of accountability, responsibilities, documentation requirements, and record retention. This course meets the Arizona ADH requirements for Client Fund Training.

Communication is a process of creating shared understanding. This course describes the importance of positive communication and teaches effective methods for creating clear, respectful communication. Topics include: components of effective communication, communication styles, and communicating with individuals with disabilities.

Most healthcare and human services workers dealing with the effects of Compassion Fatigue usually resort to doing what they’ve always done: Work harder and give more until they are completely tapped out. Compassion Fatigue is not just a “fluffy” term for burnout. It depletes not just your mind and your body, but the very core of who you are as a human being-your emotions, your soul. Oftentimes taking the form of disdain for the frailty of humanity, this psychological foe can lead a person, who at one time entered the field of healthcare out of compassion, to walk away cynical and jaded.  Whether you’re caring for a friend or family member with a terminal illness or you’re a trained medical professional, compassion fatigue is one of the deadliest adversaries any healthcare personnel can face.  

Compassion is in plentiful supply for social service servants, but what happens when these servants experience compassion fatigue?  This course will provide the ABCs of how social servants can combat compassion fatigue and increase their compassion satisfaction.  After all, the compassionate need compassion too! Dr. Derrick Tennial (Ed.D) is an educator, entrepreneur, author, minister, and motivational speaker.  An educator with over 16 years of experience, Derrick has taught and served as an administrator in Memphis, Tennessee, and metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia.   In addition, he is a motivational speaker and workshop clinician who has presented throughout the United States on topics such as cultural diversity in education and HIV/AIDS and issues of identity and sexuality.  He has published four books and contributed to magazines, blogs, and other books.     A proud uncle and godfather, Derrick enjoys spending time with family, reading, writing, traveling, and attending cultural events.  

This class discusses how disagreements and conflicts happen at work and ways in which they can be resolved.

NEW! The Conflict in the Workplace course examines how conflict impacts the workplace each day. Throughout this course, workplace conflict is discussed. This course is designed to allow the participant to examine their conflict style in relationship to the conflict styles of their peers, leaders, and customers. At the end of this course, the participant will apply the information learned to a past or current workplace situation.   This course is presented by Dr. Lori Wieters, MBA, PhD, Industrial/Organizational Psychologist. Dr. Wieters has more than 15 years of training, leadership development, and organizational change expertise working in a variety of industries. As an I/O Psychologist, Dr. Wieters specializes in diagnosing human behaviors that are creating complexity in our current workplaces. Workplaces come in many varieties, in offices, homes, and on-the-go. Work is happening everywhere, hence,, the potential for human interaction, misunderstanding, andconflict is greater now than ever. Dr. Wieters provides a holistic approach to human performance in the workplace, wherever the workplace may be located. 

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is closely monitoring the management of the out break of the novel coronavirus with the understanding that the current quarantines are insufficient to stop the spread of the outbreak. This course will provide Direct Support Professionals with the knowledge to prevent, identify, and participate in the treatment of the same.
